Dedicated support for women

Given that the criminal justice system has many more men in it than women, you might be surprised to know that our team is made up of more women than men!

We understand the complexities that women can face both when living with a criminal record themselves and when they are the family member of someone with a criminal record.

We are therefore pleased to be able to offer a dedicated service specifically for women. Anna will be managing the women helpline and she will support you to work through whatever challenges you might be facing. You can contact Anna on: women@nextchapterscotland.org.uk.

You can also book a call back from Anna using her Calendly link.

Dedicated support for people with a conviction for a sexual offence

At Next Chapter Scotland, we believe that rehabilitation and reintegration is the only way to achieve abetter and safer world. We also know that the punishment system, including the police, social work, the courts and the prison estate, can often cause more harm than it claims to prevent.

Since the formation of Police Scotland in 2013, almost all categories of crime have seen their numbers fall. The clear exception is sexual crime. The number of people convicted of asexual offence has more than doubled in just over 10 years. Today, one in four people in the current prison population, are on the sex offender’s register.

People convicted of a sexual offence can be the most stigmatised and yet they are also one of the groups least likely to reoffend.

We’re delighted to now have the resource to be able to offer a dedicated, specialist support for people with a conviction for a sexual offence, as well as their family members and friends, who are struggling with the seemingly endless barriers and hurdles they face, as they try to rebuild their lives.

If you have any questions relating to a sexual offence, contact Joe - sohelpline@nextchapterscotland.org.uk

You also have the option to book a call back from Joe using his Calendly link.
